wAsHBURN WINS AGAIN. Defeated the Missouri Eleven by Score of 8 to o. Columbia. Mo. Nov. 19.-W ashDurn added the scalp of the Tigers to their string yesterday afternoon. While the score was but TO 0 in favor of the Topeka team. it should have been a more decisive victory for the Missouri team was clearly outplayed, especially in the second half. The Washburn team has not yet met defeat, and the players were considerably elated over the result of the game. There was no scoring in the first half, even though Missouri had five second half. after Missouri had replaced four of the substitutes with reg ulars, Washburn scored and kicked goal The game was characterized by delays. lack of consistent team work. slowness of play. and was uninteresting, especially from a Missouri stand point, save for the individual work of few of the players on both sides The first half started with the regulars, Hoff, Birney, Anamosa, Ardinger and l. Anderson out OF the game. Their places were filed by substitutes. The Missouri team seemed to get together well at times. and appeared to be match for Washburn in this half. The ball would move first into Missouri territory and then into Washburn’s territory. Toward the middle of the half WaShburn got to the Missouri’s 30-yard line and here attempted a place kick, but it flew wide. Missouri then took the ball and by a series of short but steady gains carried the ball down the field to Washburn’s 20-yard line, where Washburn held and forced Missouri to try a place kick which fa1led. This practically ended play Of the first half with the score 0 to 0. Although the second half opened with almost all the varsity men playing, yet Missouri seemed to take a slump and Washburn outplayed Missouri This naIf was very much like the first and was featureless except for a brilliant run of 40 yards by Mehl who was tackled on Missouri’s 1o-yard line by Smith. Missouri held at this point, but only advanced the ball yards before it was fumbled. Washburn then advanced the ball by line bucks until Millice was pushed over for a touchdown. This end | ed the scoring, although several times afterwards Washburn had possession of the ball close enough to endanger Missourts goal, but Missouri invariably | held. M1SSourpS chief weakness was in her line. The Missouri men played high and the WaShburn men invariably got the charge on the Missouri men. Wash burn had good team work occasionally and her backs were fast and hard line plunges. Her tackles were also strong and their tackles around tackle plays in variably resulted in good gains. The stars of Washburn were Dadis- man, Millice, Mehl, Lakin and Cunning | ham; for Missouri. Nichols, Coons, Smith and Haggard played the best game. 4 The lineup: ~ e- g 7-.F-s -Ir s- -r.-t Missouri = Center Stenger- Childers; right guard. Chi1ders-Hoff; left guard. Landon; right tackle.
