gew agaren @allg 9gprning ynnrual aud Gpnrier. FOOTB ALL. Yale Outplays Princeton And Scores Four Points To Her Nothing-Galne Called on Account of Darkness-The Yale Outplays Princeton And Scores Four Points To Her NOthing-Galne Called on Account of Darkness-The Philadelphia Game. In Philadelphia on Thanksgiving day the University of Pennsylvania contested with Harvard for superiority in football and were worsted by score of 28 to 0. The game was 8 very good exhibition of football minus slugging exhibition, and at the close of the game their good will toward one another was shown to be unruf1ed by mutual cheers. Never has football received such set back as it received in the le-Princeton game the same day in Princeton, N. J. The accommodations were a disgrace to Princeton institution and their clamor to have future football game in their town ought to receive an immediate rebuke. One solitary policeman was supposed by Prince ton undergraduates to be capable of keeping back thousands of people who are always eager of seeing every detail of the game, and as a consequence no order was preserved and at times scenes of wild pandemonlum pre- vailed. Many caught colds that will claim acquaintance with them for long time, while all were profuse in their imprecations for their folly in imagining they culd wade through Jersey ‘‘mud” and Princeton slime poor exhibition of football playing, as the players were really unable to stand upon their feet, and it’s significant end ing made all true lovers of the sport disgust ed. Yale outplayed Princeton in every point, tackling, blocking. kicking and running, and though the championship may not be award ed her. yet she is in reality victor and cham pion. The game was called with the score to in favor of Yale on account of the in- creasing darkness, though Corwin of the Yales said that he would play all night if it was so necessary. For Yale the best playing was done by Beecher, Morrison, Wallace and Watkinson. For Princeton Ames, Price, Cowan and the two Hodges deserve especial mention. The teams were as follows: Yale-Rushers Wallace Gill, Woodruff, Corbin quarterback, Beecher; half backs, Watkinson and Morrison; back, Bull. enrge onn,e1 H. aoage. GoDa, Opwan, quarterback, R. Hodge; half-backs, Price and Ames; full-back, Savage (captain) At meeting Thursday evening of the Yale football team at the Fifth Avenue Hotel Beecher, the quarter back, was elected cap- member of the junior class and is without doubt the finest football player in the coun try. Every team Yale have played with this sea- son have marveled at his nimbleness and has looked up to him their ideal in football. The whole college is confident that he will lead Yale again to victory next year. He is the nephew of Henry Ward Beecher. During the past season Harvard has sue nents’ Al; Yale 689 to her opponents 4; Princeton 312 to her opponents 25. Harvard has played 13 games, Yale Il and Prince ton 8.
