  Washington Squad Will try Saturday Face-Saver Oregon State, which hasn’t lost and Washington, which hasn’t won yet this season clash at Seattle on Saturday afternoon in a football game that could highlight the West menu despite the inequality in records. Washington proved a disappoint- ing surprise in dropping all three of it’s intersectional tests – to the Air Force 10–⁠7, to Pittsburgh 13- 6, and to Iowa 17–⁠7. UCLA opens the Coast grid course Friday night in playing host to Syracuse. On Saturday af- ternoon, Sou thern California battles at Notre Dame, Duke in- vades California, Idaho plays at Oregon, and San Jose at Wash ington State. Stanford tries regrouping its forces at Rice in a night game while Fresno State plays at win less University of the Pacific. Southern California’s Trojans came to life in the fourth quarter to beat Michigan State last week and Coach Johnny Mckay can only hope they’ll start earlier against the Irish of Notre Dame. Dukes defending Atlantic Coast Cosference champions are favored to hand California its third straight beating, while both Wash ington State and Oregon aren’t expected to have tough assign mentS.
