Badger State Team Plays a Stiff Game, but Fails to Get Near It’s OPP ponent’s Goal. YUNDT IS PURDUE’S STAR SUCCESSFUL IN LINE ATTACKS AND MAKES TWO ToUCHpOWNs. Illinois Defeats Knox, % to 5, and Culver Beats Lake Forest Academy, Al to o. Special to the Indianapolis Journal. LAFAYETTE, Ind, Oct. 3.-Outplaying their opponents at every point, the Purdue football eleven won easily from the Beoit team on Stuart Field this afternoon, the score being II to o. AT no time in the game was Purdue’s goal in danger while only by taking brace at critical points did the visitors prevent a larger score being rolled up. Captain Osborne’s team put up a much better game than seen at Crawlouisville on Wednesday The backs worked faster and the defense was of a stone wall character, the line being i’m pregnable throughout the contest. Beloit’s famous line yielded only after repeated on slaughts by Purdues sturdy backheld, and the Boiler makers first touchdown was made but a moment before time was called at the end of the first half The star Of the game was Yundt, Purdues young full back, who has shown up remarkably strong in the last few days and seems to stand an evfn chance with Thomas for winning varsity honors. Yundts line attacks were successful each time and two of the touchdowns were made by him after he had broken through Beloit’S line again and again. Beloit kicked off and Powell ran the ball back fifteen yards Purdue failed TO penetraIe ner opponents line ana puntS were exchanged by Hotter and Slater. Purdue slowly forced the ball I’D the field and Osborne made a forty-fve-yard run. aided by strong interference. Although he placed the pigskin between the goal posts he was called back to the twenty-flve-yard line for violating the rule requiring the quarter back to run five yards to the side when advancing the ball. Allen gained ten yards and McManus made five. Yundt made five and was then sent flying over the Beloit line for touchdown. He hurdled the line In brilliant style. Hotter kicked goal and time was called. Purdue kicked off for the second half. Beloit returned the ball twenty yards and Purdue held. For Beloit, Strothers, the col ored end, and Howard. Beloits other end. played strong defensive games. Hotter and Mowery carried the ball down the field yard by yard to the twenty-ive-yard line. and steady line plunges by Yundt, Allen and Nc Manus brought the leather to the Vineyard line, where Yundt plunged through for the second touchdown Soon after the next kickoff Reloit held Purdue and Hotter tried for a drop kick for goal. Beloit’s full back caught the ball on his own goal line. He started to run back. when Sam Miller threw him so hard the ball slid out Of his arms and Hamilton, Purdve’s center, grabbed it. He ran around for the third touchdown. Time was called with the ball In the middle of the field. Lineup:
