Colgate Defeats Cornell, 23–12 ITHACA, N. Y, Sept 20 fAP) !. talent showed the way for Colgate today in q 23- IL victory over Cornell in the 49th renewal of rivalry dating to 1896. Colgate had lost its opener to Brown last week. It was Cornell’s opener. Gary Barudin, a 19-year-old sophomore from Leonia, N. j., filling in for the injured Mike Heating at quarterback, did an excellent job of leading the Red Raiders and contributed the first score with a 3-yard keeper on an end run in the first period, completing a Ga yard march in II plays. Barudin, who gained 116 yards over all, handed off to Jim Deegan, senior halfback, for the second touchdown in the second period after Wayne Demikoff had quarterbacked the club down the field.
