  THE COLLEGE LINE There is an unusual amount of foot” in football these days. Even Columbia has succumbed. The Lions have been going for two-point conversions after all their touchdowns, and until last week had made seven of Is tries, but last week following their one touchdown against Lehigh, the Lions kicked the extra point. They we’re upset losers, 14–⁠7. Last Saturday Pete Smolanovich of New Mexico State kicked six straight extra points against Texas Western to run his total to SO in a row, a National rec ord Greg Mather of Navy hasn’t missed in 19 tries, and Dick Heydt of Army is perfect in IS. Bill Seigel of Wichita missed his one extra-point kick last week against Tulsa, but in the last quarter kicked a 39-yard field goal for q 81 victory. It gave Wichita its second Missouri, Valley Conference title. Last year against the same team, Seigel did it differently. kicking three extra points in a sl-20 victory for the champion ship. y II The Citadel beats Virginia Military at Lexington, it will give the Bulldogs their first Southern Conference football championship.
