Passes Help Colorado Top Kansas, 27–14 BOULDER, Colo, Nov. 2 (AP.-Colorado’s young foot ball team, powered by Quarter back Gale Weidner’s passing, ganged up on Kansas today and jumped into the Orange Bowl picture with a 27–14 Big Eight victory. Weidner threw three touch down passes into the end zone. The 19-year-old sophomore from Troy, Mont, pitched 20 yards to Gary Henson, is yards to Chuck Mcbride and 6 yards to Bill Elkins. Colorado led 1877 early in the third quarter. With Weidner going back and forth to the sidelines, ia voring an injury, the Kansans came right back and seemed to run the Buffalqes off the field. Jayhawk Quarterback Duane Morris frightened the partisan crowd of $4,000 by streaking 81 yards to Colorado’s 2. Halfback John Hadl, who pes tered the Bluffs all day, turned right end for a touchdown. John Suder’s second kick left Kansas trailing, 1914. ‘ While Weidner watched from the sidelines, Frank Montera took over the quarterback duties and guided Colorado Sc yards for a. fourth period touchdown that removed all doubt as to the outcome. Kansas entered the game with a 81 record in Big Eight play and with a victory would have been a fair bet for the Orange Bowl. Both teams now are 80 in the conference and are tied with Iowa State for second place. E6EokSDo -- 3 : 3 Gll44 Colorado-Henson 90, pass from Weld ner tDowler kick.
