  VICTORY FOR VERMONT Won from Rensselaer, Polytechnic In stitute. q Much Lighter Team. The Varsity foot ball team defeated the team from Rensselaer, Polytechnic lnsti tutc Of Troy, y. y, at Athletic Park Sat urday afternoon by score of II to 6. The day was an ideal one for foot ball and the game interesting to watch from start to finish; owing to the plucky game put up by the visitors and the, at times slow game played by the varsity. In the first half Vermont seemed unable to get down To good effective work, excepting at certain short intervals, and Rensselaer, by taking advantage of this fact and by playing quick, snappy game greatly offset the disadvantage of having to play team much heavier than herself In this half Vermont fumbled, Rensselaer, capturing the ball and carrying it thirty yards for her only touchdown. In the last part If this helf Vermont began to play better, added a touchdown and had rapid ~ rushed the ball to her opponents seven yard line when time was called. In the second half Vermont played a better game but still individual playing was more prominent than good team work. and Rensselaer, had the bah ON Nerm IS four yard line before she pull cd herself together sufficiently to take it away from the lighter opponents. From this point Vermont had the ball most of the time, losing it however twice ON bad fumblcs but each time regaining pos session OF it by holding for downs. Yer mont made her last touchdown after II minutes of play by long end runs and short gains through the line. Rensselaer, made most of her gains on trick plays around the ends, being unable to gain through the line.
