Oct 25.-The University of Pennsylvania football eleven today defeated the Bucknen team on Franklin field by the narrow margin Of to 5. The Lewisburg eleven outweighed Pennsylva- MIA nearly ten pounds to the man, but the Quakers put more dash into their work than in any previous game this season. The plays were gotten off smoothly and the backs started quickly, two points which have caused the coaches much an guish. Neither eleven scored in the first half. but early in the second half Bucknell carried the ball from their own 20-yard line to the Pennsylvania goal without once losing it. Shipp, Bueknelfs big left tackle, was used as battering ram in this ground gaining exhibition. A few minutes later Pennsylvania car ried the ball from midfeld to within two feet of Bucknell’s goal only to lose it on downs. 1t was kicked out of danger to the visitors 30-yard line. The Quakers’ play became more fierce and they rushed the ball over for their only touchdown, two minutes before the timekeepers whistle announced cessation of hostilities. Pennsylvania was weakened by the abb sence of Capt. Gardiner and their star tackle, Baird, and in the face of this ill fortune their victory was the more sur prising. The teams lined up as follows.
