Ind, Oct 25.-Notre Dame defeated Indiana here to-day on Jordan Field in the closest game OF the season by the score OF IL TO 5. This makes the first time that Indiana ever lost a game on Jordan Field, but IL ran the visitors a close race for victory. The teams were wei matched, but Indiana opened up with swift end gains. which IL was unable &c duplicate in the second half. Salmon played the game for Notre Dame by his swift. long dashes across the field. but Clevenger put In a few OF the same sort for Indiana, and knight and Markle also did splendid work. The game opened with Indiana’s kick of and Notre Dame returned the ball past the center of field. Notre Dame walked down the field at three TO five yards at a clip, and at end of eight minutes Salmon had a touchdown and kicked goal In the second session Indian rapidly advanced ball to Notre DANES goal and by a series OF downs and punts Knight carried the ball over for Indiana but goal was missed.
