  Johnny Popson, a fast shifty halfback from Furman. scored three touchdowns Saturday to take over the individual point making lead in the Southern Conference with ~ points. The 195-pound junior from Sawyerville, Pa. collected his touchdowns in Furman’s 31–⁠20 triumph over The Citadel. One came on a l03-yard return of the second-half kickoff. Popson made the other touchdown on 8 and yard plunges. Four players were tied for Sec ond behind Popson. including Quarterback Johnny Dean of Virginia Tech, Halfback Len Ciemniecki of George Washing ton and Halfbacks Louis Wacker and George Riggs, both of Rich mona. Dean ran 80 yards for one of his teams three touchdowns Saturday night when Virginia Tech, the Nations 16th-rated team, kept its record clean by whip ping Richmond, 1912. Wacker also crossed the goal line, MAX ing Richmond’s first touchdown that tied the game at 6–⁠6 with a 3-yard drive. A few minutes later.
