Navy Holds Rough Drill; Passing Attack Shorpened ANNAPOLIS, Oct. 5 P.- Coach Eddie Erdelatz skipped the usual light Monday routine yesterday and sent the Navy football squad through a rough hour and 40 minutes of practice for Saturdays game with STAN ford. The Middies spent most of the session sharpening their passing attack, which led them to a 42–7 victory over Dart mouth last Saturday after reserves broke open the game in the fourth quarter. Quarterback George Welsh who sat out the Dartmouth game with a side injury, was back in harness, sharing duty with Dick Echard, the third-stringer who threw two touchdown passes Saturday, and John Weaver who ran the No. / unit against Dartmouth. Tackle John Hopkins, who broke a thumb at Dartmouth was the only casualty whose status appeared doubtful. Reserve Fullback Dick Guest hurt an ankle but was working with the team. Erdelatz has only three practice days before the trip to Palo Alto. Calf, and the Middies toughest test to date. The Mid dies leave by plane Thursday.
