Cordial’s 17-yard field goal in the second quarter proved the margin of victory, but even more important to the oregon State cause was his alert play as a pass defender and a pass-catching end on offense Twice he shut off Oregon scor- ing threats by intercepting passes and a diving, almost Impossible catch in the last moments allowed Oregon State to keep the ball and run out the clock.
