Tommy O’Connell’s throwing for the IL lini shattered three Big Ten rec ords. Ohio State intercepted six of Tommy’s tosses and used two of them to touch off touchdown surges. Two other Buckeye scores stemmed from recoveries of two fumbles. Ohio State, a seven-point underdog, blasted 20 points in the third period to crack a TT stale mate and went on to its fourth Big Ten football triumph in six games. Bort0n’s Deception Good. John Borton, the Buckeyes split-T quarterback, mixed his passing with a stampede of ground power for splendid decepton. He tossed six and 37-yard touchdown passes to End Dean Dugger. Ohio State slammed to the other two on the ground behind the ball-carrying Of Bob Watkins, Fred Bruney, John Hlay and HOWE Cassidy. Illinois, behind O’Connell’s plotting. flew to the Ohio State 4, 6, II and 26-yard lines on occasions without scoring. This erased the mark of 1,079 set by Minnesota’S Paul Giel last year O’Connell still has one game left, against Northwestern next week. In two other Big Ten record upheavals, O’Connell now has 1,138 passing yards in league play, eclipsing the season mark of 1000 by Wisconsin’s Johnny Coatta last year.
