Mississippi Hands Houston so Defeat To Remain Unbeaten + HOUSTON, Nov. 8.-Mississippi handed Houston a dose of its own Imedicine--a rugged defense-tomight, while taking a tough 6-to-0 victory to protect its undefeated although twice tied record. Houston, sixth-ranked team in the Nation last week on total de- Efense, was unable to push its sluggish offensive attack beyond the Rebel 40-yard line. Harold Lotion, 18O-pound full back from Brookhaven, Miss, cut rapidly through a big hole at right tackle on fourth down from the 9 late in the second quarter for the games only touchdown The extra-point attempt by Quarterback Jimmy Lear was blocked by Frank James, fast-chargine Houston guard. The drive had begun on the Mississippi 40 after a Houston tumble, the Rebels, running and passing, scored in 10 plays. 1t was Mississippi’s sixth vic. tory against ties with Kentucky and Vanderbilt. Next week thu Rebels tackle mighty Maryland. | The defeat snapped a five-gamt Houston winning streak that be- gan after the team had lost it season openr against TexaI A. & M. While holding Houston for TIN most part in its own back yard Mississippi moved inside th’ Houston 80 three other times. Tw, drives were stopped by pass inter. ceptions by the alert Houston de. tenders. Houston held for down. on the other attempt. Mississippi – O 8 o o., Huston O o o.
