  Iof Texas Western, the Nations offensive leader, who tossed two scoring passes and set up a third in his teams 20–⁠14 upset over Texas Tech. Howard (Hopalong) Cassady of Ohio State. the main thorn in the side of Wisconsin in the Buckeyes 23–⁠14 defeat of the Badgers, also was considered. He scored one touchdown and had a couple of long runs against the Badgers. Other Saturday Standouts in cluded: Johnny Olszewski, California, who scored twice as the Trojans defeated Oregon, Alt; Charley Maloy of Holy Cross, who tossed three touchdown passes as his outfit smothered New York Uni versity. $50, and Dick Reynolds OF Pitt, who scored on a 79-yard jaunt as the Panthers turned the tables on Notre Dame, 22–⁠19.
