  INDIANS WERE BAETEN. Michigan Defeats Carlisle by Score of % to o. Of % to o. Detroit Mich, Nov. 2.-The University of Michigan defeated the Carlisle Indians school football team at Ben nett park this afternoon, before 5000 people, by the score of p to 0. WI Ting Fang, the Chinese minister. OccUpied one of the boxes, with eX-SeCretary OF War Alger, and at the close of the game, in response to the demands of the spectators, addressed them, cOngratulating Michigan on her victory. Michigan made three touchdOwns, Shorts kicking goal twice and scoring five points on a place kick Two Of the tOuchdowns and the place kick were made in the first half. The In dams bTaced up wonderfully in the second half and it was only by the hardest kind of line bucking that Mich igan scored one touchdown. Carlisle held them for downs several times and Michigan was also forced to punt a number of times. The Indians were penalized frequently for off-side play especially in the first half, when it contributed considerably to Michigan’s tOuchGOwns Michigan fumbled badly in the first half and her interference at one time was as good as it has been in other games this season. Most of Carlisle’s gains We’re made by “wing-shift” play, the entire team attacking the Michigan line between end and tackle. Michigan however, finally solved the play and broke it Us. Michigans gains were made principally by hard line bucking.
