  PLAYED A TIE GAME. Brilliant Work Saves Beloit From De- feat BY Chicago. Chicago, Nov. 1.-The brilliant work of Merrill Smith and McRae averted impending defeat for the Beloit eleven today and the final score was Chicago, II; BelOit, IL. The first half was uninteresting, Chicago going down the lielC twice for touch6Owns, on one OF which McNab missed a goal which might have won Tia game. Early in the second half Sheldon. who carried the ball over in the first half, was again rammed past the goal and Ellsworth punted, making Chi cagO’s total II to BelOit’s o. Then the Wisconsin men came to life. From their twenty-yard line they forced the ball to ChicagOs fifteen-yard lint and Merrill kicked goal from field. 1t took Beloit about ten minutes more to force the bali back to Chi Cages tWenty-yard line, where Merrill took the ball around ChicagO’s left for a touchdown and later kicked goal. BeiOit made the next touchdown by straight football, during which HOrton, Sheldon and Beddall had to be taken out Of the game, Perkins, Jennison and Napp respectively taking their places. Cronk early in the game was substituted for Crane and Beloit car ried the ball for the last touchdown and kicked the goal. which made the game a tie. Attendance 1900.
