    u. OF N. ELEVEN Has Arranged Game With Harvard for Oct. 80. Leaves, Today, on Massachusetts Trip --WiI| Play Tufts, Saturday. No. Having Recn Scored on by Maine Colleges. Feels Very Confident. OrCno. Nc, Oct. 25.-tSpeciaD.-fOr some time this fall Manager Peck has been making negotiations with the manager of the Harvard football team regarding a game between the University of Maine and Harvard to be played / at Cambridge. This morning. Manager / Peck received letter from the Har- , ward manager which returned favor | able answer and also stated the terms and guarantee under which the game win be played. Manager Peck. after 2 consultation with Coach Farley. telegraphed the Harvard manager. nc cepiing the terms mentioned The game will be played. Oct. 90. ut Cam bridge. The game was announced in chapel. this morning. and was received by the students with much enthusiasm. The University of Maine has put forth q team this season which she has reason to be proud Of. for in the three college games With Maine col leges played thus far. not once has it beer scored on Colby has met defeat at the hands of the University team once this season, while Bates has twice been defeated. Colby will line up against L. of NJ. Nov. , But one game has been arranged with Bowdoin and will be played at Brunswick. Nov. 1G- Perhaps more interest will center about this game than any other that Maine will play this fall. Last fall, BoWdoin defeated T.. of VI. to the tune Of 81 to o. but it was a recognized fact l,,t ~, la1 ,,,l, the strongest for some years in the history of the college. while L. of NJ vas decidedly weak, winning only one college game. last season. Maine is strong, this year. as has been proven by the previous games. and the two teams will be very evenly matched. thus the game will be looked forward To with a great deal of interest by the alumni and supporters of both colleges. The team will leave, tomorrow morning. for Newburyport Mass. where in the afternoon practice will be held. Saturday morning. the team will so TO Mcdford. where a game with Tufts will be played. in the afternoon. After the game, Manager Peck will take the men to Auburndale. where they will remain until the game with Harvard. Wednesday. Each after noon practice will be indulgcd in and the men kept in the best possible condition. With the showing that the L. Of NJ. eleven has made this fall and the strength which it has displayed in the previous games. the college Is cOilfdent that a respectable showing will be made against Harvard. Eighteen men besides the manager and coach will be taken on the MaSSachusetts trip and as the playing of the substitutes who will be taken is at present directly comparable with tho work of many Of the players on the Varsity eleven. there will be plenty of good men to put in in case of accident. while but little material differ ence in the strength of the team will be noted There seems to be an abundance of backs this year and many are fast men so that there is little prospect of & weakness in this department. The team will return to Orono. Thurs. day afternoon. Oct. 81. There are at pfrvcnt no more games to be played at ORC. no. and the Bowdoin-U. Of NJ. game will terminate the season. The following arr the names Of the mon VINO will be taken on the trip: Cole, le; Dorticos. 1t: FL lott. lg: Rackiffe. c: Sawyer. re-: Towsc. rt Bean. re: Bailey. qb: Davis. lib: Rradford. RIB: Webber. fb. Subs: McFarianc Bearse. Duren. Mosher. Talbert. Taylor and Parker. The senior class has elected officers as follows: President p. T.. Mccarthy, Lew iSton; 1st vice Pres. +. F..
