  ashington Routs Cougars 52–⁠21; UCLA Beats Troians Two Huskie Backs Set Three Records In Easy Triumph SPOKANE. Nov. 25.-Don Helm rich cranked up the Washington touchdown machine today, crush ing the Washington State Cougars So to 81. He cracked two records himself and helped Hugh Nc Elhenny break a third. The two men left an overflow crowd of 10000 gasping. Heinrich pitched II compilations to break National record set up in 1947 by Chuck Conerly of Mississippi. The II gave him 1874 for the season. Conerly had 1873. Don rif1ed two touchdown passes to break by one of the Coast Conference mark of IL set in 1949 by Jim Powers Of Southern Cali fornia. Scores Five Touchdowns. Tragedy Upsets Cougars. The Staters were badly shaken just before the game when they learned that the younger brother OF Center La Verne Torgeson had been asphyxiated. The boy, Bob Torgeson. died after he had gone to sleep in car in which the motor was running. La Verne was too upset to play at all.
