Beats West Virginia, 21–7 PITTSBURGH, Nov. 4. - The converted Pittsburgh Panthers won their first T-style game in the mire Of Pitt Stadium today, defeating West Virginia Universlty, 21–7. But to win. Coach Len Casa nova’s charges fell back on the bruising ground game to which their abandoned single-wing for nation was best suited. A rain-sodden crowd of 6,125 saw the Panthers register their first victory in six 1850 starts under Casanova. For the noun taineers it was the fifth loss against two victories. The big Pitt line ripped the West Virginia forward wall apart almost at will in the first half. Until the third quarter. West Virginia’s attack begged at every turn. The Mountaineers failed to register a single first down before halftime. Coach Art Lewis invaders raillied in the third quarter and Launched their first serious scoring threat. The drive carried to the Pitt 81 before giving out. In the final quarter, West Virginia really came alive and swept from the Mountaineer 80 to a touchdown largely through the passing efforts Of Quarterback Bill Allen and the running of A Purello.
