Virginia Rallies in Last Half to Beat VM|> 26–13 Duke Phi Beta Kappa Scores All 6 tbs Against Richmond RICHMOND. Va, Oct. 81. - Wingback Tom Powers, who this week was elected to Phi Beta Kappa for what he knows about books, demonstrated his football learning here today by scoring all six touchdowns as Dukes Blue Devils rode to a 41–0 victory over the University of Richmond Spiders. A slim crowd of 1000 watched the 185-pound president of Dukes senior class cross the final stripe in every period. Powers, who did his football playing in the intramural ranks until the 1949 season opened, grabbed passes from Billy Cox for three scores and rambled across on running plays for the others. The passing combination of Cox to Powers clicked on plays COW ering 66 yards in the first quarter, 81 yards in the second and closed out the touchdown max ing with a 46-yarder in the final period. Powers, whose home is in Cum berland, Md, sailed 4, 81 and 6 yards for the other tallies. Mike Souchak, the Blue Devils extra point artist, converted after five of the six touchdowns. Football old-timers around Richmond’s City Stadium couldn’t remember a player ever scoring six touchdowns in a single game here. If there was ever any doubt about the games outcome out there today, Powers soon erased it. BY the end of the first quarter. Tom. who was on the field 81 minutes. had his mates out front
