Rutgers Wins 1st Time. Al Princeton Since SO. In Oldest Grid Rivalry PRINCETON, NJ, Oct. 16.-The bells of old Queens College at Rutgers rang tonight as the New Jersey State University students celebrated as wild a football victory over Princeton as the Scarlet ever scored. Rutgers won today’s game % to 6. 1t was their first victory on Princetons home grounds since 1869 and only their fourth victory in Al games with the Tigers since that time. The rivalry between the two schools is the oldest in scholastic football history. In 1869 Rutgers in vaded Princeton to improvise new game-football. Rutgers won that day six goals to four goals. Wild as today’s game was. the fight for the goal posts after it was even wilder. Before the game ended, Princeton students started massing behind the goal posts in anticipation of the Rutgers onslaught that followed. The crowd of 1900 stayed to watch the battle. The goals went down, but there were probably many black eyes and swollen noses tonight at the dances that followed the game. Everything in the book entered into the football game. Fumbles, long runs, long and short passes, a catch of a forward pass and a safety kept the crowd in a constant uproar. Princeton lead at the end of the first quarter, 6 to 0, but Rutgers roared back with nine points in the second quarter, six in the third and seven in the fourth. s
