ARKANSAS RAZ0RBACKS In SC0RELESS TIE With LOUISIANA STATE COLLEGE DALLAS, Tex, Jan. /. -(P)- The flint-ribbed Arkansas Razor. backs baked three drives inside their ten-yard line to gain a score less tie with the ~power-laden Louisiana State Tigers here Wednesday in the eleventh Annual Cotton Bowl classic. Thirty-eignt thousand fans mud died under umbrellas and rain coats saw the two teams battle in a misting rain and s%ub-freezing weather. The Razorbacks, called the tough est in the nation, once halted the Tigers on the two-yard stripe, an other time they threw Louisiana back from their four and on still another occasion they whammed the Tigers down after they had stormed to the Arkansas eight. The Tigers rammed and spun through the Razorbacks for 255 yards on the ground while Arkansas got only 50 and a. lone first down. The slippery ball made pass ing hazardous and LSU completed only five out of II attempts for 16 yards. Arkansas tried only four and didn’t connect with any. While only SO, 900 turned out for the game, it was a sell-out OF AS 507. Every ticket was disposed OF two months ago. 1t was the second tie game in the history of the Cotton Bowl. The first in 1914 when Texas and Randolph Field battled to a IT stalemate was played under wealth err conditions similar to today only it rained throughout that contest. Today it was a fine mist that froze as it fell. Temperature ranged in the middle twentles. Despite an inch and a half of snow that fell yesterday, the field was dry at the start, having been covered. But the rain started mid way of the first period and soon the gridiron was quite slippery, 1t did not appear to hinder the runners much, however.
