  Iowa Hawks Score Upset Over Purdue IOWA CITY. Iowa, Sept. 28.- DR.. Eddie Anderson, three years away in service, hasn’t lost his touch at producing surprises his Iowa Hawks came through with 16-to-0 upset today over favored Purdue in the Big Nine football opener for both teams. While DR.. Anderson spent the war years in the Army. Iowa gridiron teams won only one conference game in II starts. They tied one. But a partisan crowd of 36 600 Dads Day fans forgot all that as they watched his first post war production roll back Purdue, team with 13-point pregame advantage according to some forecasters.
