Purdue.Indiana Clash Tops Grid Program; Army, Navy Idle NEW YORK, Nov. 23.-Unbeaten Army and Navy are idle this week looking ahead to their champion ship game in Philadelphia on Decen1ber 1, thus giving the other col lege teams in the Nation better chance to hit the football headlines tomorrow. Perhaps the outstanding game of this last big Saturday of the 1945 season is the Purdue Indiana clash in the Western Conference. A VIC tory would give unbeaten Indiana Its first Big Ten title. Should the Hoosiers tumble, the championship laurels would go to the winner of the Ohio State Michigan fray, another of the aft ernoon’s foremost games. Also striving for championship honors will be Pennsylvania, which can take the so-called Ivy, League title by whipping Cornell in the SD renewal of their long series: Missouri,, which can win the Big Six honors by defeating Kansas, and Duke, which can retain the South ern Conference crown by nicking North Carolina. In other topf1ight games Notre Dame invades the South to battle Tulane, U. c. l.. A, upset victor over st. Mary’s last week, meets Califor- MIA and the Oklahoma Aggies will try to keep their unbeaten, united rec ord clean against Oklahoma. Ala bama. also unbeaten and united, should have little trouble against Pensacola Navy. Still other engagements, many OF them traditional pit Dartmouth against Columbia, Yale against Princeton, Colgate against Brown, Penn State against Pitt, Virginia against Maryland, Northwestern against Illinois. Wisconsin against Minnesota. Texas Christian against Rice, Tennessee against Kentucky, Mississippi State against Mississippi, Oregon State-Southern California and Washington State against Washington. Denver won the Big Seven Conference title by beating Colorado, IA to s. yesterday.
