Purdue Is Stern Test For Navy, Not Mere Tuner for Army Navy may whip Purdue in their game Saturday at Baltimore, but reports from the Midwest indicate the Mtdshipmen won’t be able to use the fray as a testing ground for weapons to be employed against Army two weeks hence. Records show Purdue’s backs have q lot of get up and 60, enough to make Nays line put in a good after Moons work. The Boilermakers have Cecil Is bell at their helm this season and his knowledge Of a sound offense is reflected In the statistics. With Babe Dimancheff and Ed Cody pacing the pack the backs rolled up 1881 yards from scrimmage and scored at least one touchdown every game IN capturing five OF eight contests. Iowa Seahawks. who squeezed out 1875 verdict, were the only OUTFIT to check Purdue with less than two touchdowns. Purdue has lost only one game In its last IS against collegiate opponents, a 4o-14 setback at Michigan’s hands last month. But it rebounded nicely, swapping Wisconsin the following week, $50. and outdistancing Northwestern last week, 27–7. 1t also defeated Marquette and Iowa and dropped decision to Great Lakes. s.,- Isbell,- who compiled brilliant record in pro football with the Green Bay Packers after graduating from Purdue, has given his charges a well-rounded passing attack. Thus far his boys have completed IS of SO passes for a net gain of 5S6 yards and five touchdowns. Navy and Purdue have met only once before on the gridiron, back In 1926, when the Tars eked out thrilling 1918 victory.
