PLIERS BREAK TIE AT SECOND PERIOD TO DEFEAT BRUINS RIVERSIDE, California, Nov. G. After being held to a TT deadlock in the first half, the formidable Fourth Air Force team from March Field swept over UCLA 35 to 13 last Saturday. Expert passing by Jack Jacobs turned the tide in the second half. Two passes of UCLA’s by Bob Wat erfield were intercepted to make the final reckoning one sided. The Pliers scored in the first min ute of play, only to have UCLA tie the game after an alert Bruin stole the ball from the opposition on it’s 20-yard line. The Army went ahead to stay three minutes before the end of the third period. Two great throws by Jacobs and an 18-yard toss to end Woodie who strode over for a touchdown and toss to end the game.
