Maryland Touchdown Queen Hopeful Her Maqic Will Work Phyllis Thompson, Maryland’s Touchdown Queen” who brought the Old Liners one score and almost two last week in the 6–6 game with West Virginia, will try to exert a much more persuasive brand of magic as Michigan State is met in Byrd Stadium at College Park tonight. Action starts at 8:l5. Phyllis was elected to the high honor by the Maryland gridders the night before the contest with the Mountaineers after the Old Line players had absorbed goose eggs in their previous two games. Now firmly intrenched on the throne, she’s hopeful the Old Liners will reward her smiles with no less than two or three touch downs. They may be needed. Good After Lapsing Year. A years lapse in the game doesn’t seem to have retarded Michigan State, as its clean slate of three victories indicates. Charley Bach man, the Spartans’ coach, kept fully abreast of the pastime, for while they were taking a season off he was tutoring the Camp Grant eleven. So in view of their record and their admittedly superior assets, the Spartans will go into tonight’s bat tie as fairly heavy favorites. Bach man has brought along 20 players and most of them are big and fast, though not great many are experienced in college football. Jackweir Breslin, 24-year- -old full back, and Robert Bruegger, halfback who is only 18, are the Michigan State ball toters to keep an eye upon. Breslin is a triple -threater who has rushed the ball 1877 yards and tossed passes for ZIG. Bruegger has toted the ball 139 yards in I6 tries and heaved IA aerials for 263 Visitors to Have Backing. Michigan State, too, will not lack for rooters. There will be a meeting of the Washington alumni today from to at the Statler Hotel. where the Spartans are staying, as a pep session for the game. President Hanna, Coach Bachman and Glen Stewart, director of alumni relations, will be on hand, as will j. K. McElroy, booster of the gath ering. Marylands squad has toiled at a terrific pace this week in prep aration for the contest and should be fully hardened for the hard going it is sure to face. Proba BILE lineup:
