MARYLAND TRIUMPHS I4–7 OVER RUTGERS Murphy Leads Terrapins To Upset Victory In First Major Win In Two Years BALTIMORE, Nov. 21-- Up – Maryland’s oft-beat ten Terrapins, though outweighed and outmanned today, came out of their shells to play inspired football and deliver sound licking to heavily favored Rutgers, IA to 7. With lite Joe Murphy leading the parade, the Old Liners played near-perfect football before 5000 Thanksgiving day fans to score their first major football victory in two years. Not until the clock was ticking away the last 20 seconds did the Scarlet manage to dent pay-dirt against the determined defense thrown up by the lightweight Mary landers. Then it was on a desperate now-or-never 19-yard pass from Louis Bauer to Norman Kempson. The crowd hardly had settled before the flying feet of Murphy, who scored both touchdowns, gave the biggest individual thrill of the day. With less than a minute gone, little Joe swung around his right end through a mass of Rutgers men and outdistanced the second ary to race 56 yards unmolested for a touchdown. Harold Berry placekicked the extra point. !
