Kentucky veteran football eleven bounded back today with a late-scoring surge to gain IT dead lock in the Southeastern Confer ence opener for both teams. With less than 2 minutes to play. Charley Ishmael, driving fullback of the Wildcats. rushed across for a touchdown from the 3-yard line to climax a 43-yard march. With tie or defeat depending upon his efforts, Quarterback Junior Jones calmly planted a placement kick between the posts. Until then. however. the favored Wildcats. seeking their fourth consecutive victory, had seen the best efforts of their fleet and elusive backs smack futilly against the gallant Vanderbilt defense. The Commodores struck quickly in the first quarter for their points. A 23-yard pass from Mick Flanagan to Binks Bushmaier, who took the ball on the Is and scampered over untouched. was Vandy’s scoring method. Jack Jenkins placekicked the EXTRA counter.
