use. Regarded Coast Pick for Rose Bowl Army–Novy Tops Fine Games Remaining on DwindIing Card NEW YORK, Nov. 27.-Cornell, Missouri, Ohio State and Texas A. and M. sported shiny new football crowns today, while Southern Cali fornia, still shy the headpiece, wore all the other trappings of royalty. The Trojans still have to win two more games before they officially become Pacific Coast Conference champions. But no one expects them to lose. After seeing what they did to Notre Dame in that 20–12 rout at South Bend Saturday. the fans are beginning to wonder why U. S. c. got into that tie with Oregon. With the season about at an end, Southern California is figured a cinch for the Rose Bowl assignment next January, and the line is form ing for the teams that would like to be there, too. or at least break into some sort of post-season game. Principal candidates now are Tens nessee and the Texas Aggies, stand outs in the small undefeated-andunited brigade, with Tennessee the first choice, if it can get past Ken lucky and Auburn. Duquesne Still in Picture. Cornell walked off with the East’s unofficial award by whipping its ancient rival, Pennsylvania, $50, Saturday. That eighth straight triumph gave the big Red team first place in the Ivy League” and in the entire Eastern sector. Duquesne, also unbeaten and united, may dis pute the second title. if it does as we’ll against Detroit Saturday as it did in licking Carnegie Tech, 22–7, for the Pittsburgh city title. Missouris Tigers walked away with Blk Six laurels. and Ohio State backed into its first Big Ten title since 1920 as the season ended for those two circuits Saturday. Missouri, clinched the championship with 300 win over Kansas. Ohio’s Buckeyes lost. 21–14, to Michigan in their climax game. but finished on top when Northwestern tied Iowa, TT. Southern Methodist’s unexpected 21–0 triumph over Baylor eliminated the Bears as a last threat to the Aggies’ Southwest Conference supremacy | The Southern Conference race also rearhed the windup stage. with Duke shading Clemson in claiming the unofficial title. The Blue Devils won five straight conference games and Clemson four. Hoyas on Honor Role. Along with these champions, the seasons honor roll, subject to change in the few remaining games, includes Colorado Mines and San Jose (Calif) State in the unbeatenand-untied group and Tulane, Georgetown, Rutgers and U. c. L. A. in the tied-but-updefeated division. Surveying the remainder of the seasons program by sections, what’s left is something like this: East-Tossing the records aside, Army Navy is the game of the week. Nevertheless, Boston College and Holy Cross probably will play lot more football in their Saturday meeting. Tradition and color make this years Army–Navy scrap at Philadelphia more than contest for the championship of Kankakee, ILL.,, home town of the rival captains. Other windup games include Fordham-New York u, Stanford Dartmouth at New York and George Washington-W West Virginia. OF these, only George Washington played Saturday, beating Bucknell, 7–6. Valley Loop Race Still On. Midwest: The windup of the Big Ten season with the two leaders on the wrong side was a fitting climax | for a season full of surprises. Nebraska captured second place in the Big Six by downing Oklahoma, 1877. Oklahoma Aggies moved into a tie with Washington University for the Missouri Valley Conference lead by beating Creighton, 20–9, but the race won’t be decided until WASH ington and ST. Louis U. meet Saturday. Southwest: Although the South west Conference race is settled, Texas University’s Sophomores have great chance to cover themselves with glory when they meet the Texas Aggies Thursday. They are | tied for second now with Baylor, which meets Rice Saturday. ), Pacific Coast: Southern Califormia, which displayed enough power for a couple of teams against Notre Dame, returns to the conference (See FULLERTON, Page Aid
