|owans Sure Gopher Tilt Means Another Joyful Week End CHICAGO, Nov. 14.-Life is just one celebration after another these days out in football-crazy Iowa. The football faithful, who have just completed a hilarious week end party as the aftermath of Iowa S amazing 7–6 victory over Notre Dame, already are planning another wild one. This one is to be on Minnesotaand there seems (to the whole State of Iowa) to be no more reason to doubt therell be victory to celebrate than there was last week as the battle with the Irish appreached. After the Hawks upset the Irish, Head Coach Eddie Anderson, who was 80 years old yesterday, said he thought “the boys could beat Notre Dame and they did think they can take Minnesota. Capt. Erwin Prasse, end and one of the eight regulars who played the full 60 min utes Saturday, summed up the teams attitude toward the Gophers thusly: Bring ‘em on. It’s just another football game for Iowa.” That is the spirit that has carried Iowa to five victories in six games and their most successful season in more than a decade. If the Hawks win SATURDAY. they still will have an outside chance to share the Big Ten title with Ohio State. Paradi11g students at Iowa City quieted down yesterday long enough to hear few words from their idol Coach Anderson, who spoke to them with his 3-year-old son, Jimmy, on his shoulder. Every one of you is part of the team” he said. 1T is your team as much as It 10 Capt. Prasse’s or Mile ‘Kiunick’k”

Gophers Favored Over Hawkeyes CHICAGO, Nov IA. CUP) - Big Ten tradition finally caught up with Notre Dame and removed the last hope of the midwest for a major undefeated, united football team this season. For years, it’s been a fact around the western conference that the little teams can whip the big ones on their perfect Saturday and so it was Iowa, the surprise team of the season. that stepped out of nowhere and crashed Notre Danes previously undefeated Irish, 7 to 6. This Saturday, despite the super ior showing of Iowa’s handful of inspired iron men in their last four contests, Minnesota is regarded as a favorite to halt their amazing bid for the conference championship.
