They’re Still Talking A b o Ut Carolina’s Passing Against Tulane Last Saturday Down In New Or leans; Vols TO Get Bowl Bid. New Orleans, Oct 26.-(NNS)- The Tennessee Vols have already started packing their suit cases for a trip to 4 New Years Day Bowl game. The Vols, drubbing Alabama’s Crimson Tide, 81 to 0, Saturday got by their toughest opponent Of the season. And they did it con- Ivincingly, scoring first on a 56-yard run Of dazzling brilliance by 1870 pound Soph JohlA.y Butler, and then turning ‘Bama errors into two other touchdOWns. Tennessee completely bottled up Bama’s attack limiting Frank Thomas eleven to 81 yards for the day as against the Vols 100. The Vols, favored with Alabama and Tulane at the start Of the season to win the Southeastern Conference title, are now oVerWhelmingly choices to annex the Dixie diadem for the second straight year. Tennessee rests this week against Mercer while preparing for Louis lana State on November 4. On November II, the Vols play The Citadel, another push-over, and then tackle Vanderbilt, Kentucky and Auburn in order, with little chance Of blowing any Of these games. The Vols stand, with Ole Miss and Kentucky, as the only unbeaten and united teams in the South, with Tulane and North Carolina still I’M beaten, but tied by virtue Of their IA to IA game Saturday. That Wave-Tar Heel tilt was a thriller to 1000 fans in New Or leans After a scoreless first half, Tulane’s power produced a touch down in the third period and an other at the start Of the fourth period to give the Greenies a IA to 0 edge. Lalanne Stars And then “SWeet” Lalanne. a Louisiana boy who was too small for Tulane three years ago when he graduated from Lafayette, La, high, started throwing passes. In four plays, including the kick off, he returned the ball 10 yards, bucked for one passed for 80 and passed for AZ and that was one touchdown. And nine plays later, he passed 25 yards for the tying touchdown. Harry Dunkle, soph fullback, kick ed both extra points. That’s not all. A Tulane tumble started Lalanne to passing again and he Tipped an other in order to set up field goal try but this went wide. Tulane’s mighty line held the Tar Heels to “a yards running, but the 1856 yards through the air did the trick. The Greenies go up against Ole Miss this week and it looks like a rough afternoon for the Rebels, for the Wave will be fighting mad over what its players and coaches feel was a setback at the hands of North Carolina. The Rebels, swapping St. Louis, ~ to 0, will be mighty formidable, but it will have to be through the air that they’ll get anywhere And it isn’t likely they’ll be as hot as 0WGeI LdldIlno. we re picking the Greenies to win, 20 to 7. North Carolina, which goes up against unbeaten Pennsylvania, is our choice to keep on down the I’M beaten road with Is to 7 triumph. ‘Bama Win Seen Alabama can not afford to let down from the Tennessee game for it will find Mississippi State plenty tough if it does. State outplayed Auburn but lost to 0 game week before last and it came back yesterday to swamp Southwestern of Memphis. 81 to 0. We’re looking for a Is to ‘Bama win. Auburn which dropped 7 to 0 game to Manhattan last week. will run up against Georgia Techs tricky attack, which al but beat Notre Dame, and the Plansmen are doped to lose another one. The score should be 13 to 6. Vanderbilt Techs victim Sat’lrday, plays host to Louisiana State
