CUP The Florida–Georgia Tech score less struggle in the mud of Grant Field in Atlanta highlighted an otherwise drab Saturday in the southeastern football conference. Favorites triumphed in other games as Auburn outscored Georgia, 23–⁠14; Tulane battered Sc vance, $50; Louisiana State trounced Southwestern Louisiana Institute, 800, and Southwestern of Tennessee edged Mississippi State, IS. 1t was Florida’s gallant stand against a highly-favored Georgia Tech that amazed fotball follow ers all over Dixie. Beaten and battered in five of their eight games before they faced Tech. the Gators invaded Atlanta underdogs by one to three touchdowns. But once the game got underway, they fought the Jackets to d standstill for four full periods. Twice Tech tried to pull the game out of the fire with field goals, but each time the Gators were there to stop them. Once Ramsay broke through and block ed the kick, then recovered for Florida. Again – the Tech had been subjected to batter attack and Shaw missed the ball alto gether when he tried to boot it through. The game was a kicking duel, with more than 40 punts booming into the cold, drilling rain during the afternoon. Walton Of Florida matched Gazette of Tech boot for boot. Georgia scored to start their game with Auburn at Columbus, and led at the half time, 14-l3. Auburn came back strong in the third period. rammed over touch down and kicked field goal to make the game secure. Fordham. Lumpkin and other Georgia flashes led the Bulldog attack in the opening period, but Kelly. MCGOWAN and their mates made up for it when the Auburns started rolling. The game was the 43rd meeting between the two elevens. Each has won 10 and five ended in ties. Tulane put the game with Sc vance away in the first period with three touchdowns. The GreenieS added two more in the second and finished with one in the fourth as subs got in their work. Louisiana State scored – points in each of the first and final pc riods, and picked up six more IN the second to rout Southwestern of Louisiana. The LSU substitutes also saw some action.
