DEACS IMPRESSIVE IN SATURDAYS WIN Davidson Gets 1876 Measure From The Citadel; Wake Forest Wins 57–6 Wake Forest Colleges Demon Deacons looked impressive in the 81 to 9 route of Randolph-Macon at Wake Forest Saturday night, the much heralded spohomores in the Deacon lineup came through to the satisfacton of the Deacon supporters. Davidson, another Big Five school, opened its season against Citadel winning a close IL to 6 contest at Charleston, S. G. The Deacon backfield of Captain Write, Tony Gallovich, Edwards and Jimmy Ringgold possessed plenty OF power and speed, and displayed both in the rout Saturday. Coach Piehead Walker has the Deacons turning in some of the fin est blocking seen in early season football, and this work was a great aid to the Deacon backs in getting off on long jau1ts. Randolph-Macon’s only score came in the first quarter after Captain Write had scampered 85 yards for the first Wake touchdown. Lyle Me- Fall took Wakes kick on his own ten and streaked down the left side OF the field 90 yards for score. He was not n1olested, after he passed the Deacon,s 80. Walker used practically everything he had on the Deacon bench during the contest, the final periods being cut short, due to the r0ut.
