Davidson Points For Tarhee|s CHAPEL HILL, N. c., Nov. 4 With its best eleven in six years Davidson College Is said to bt pointing for the University Of North Carolina, unbeaten and I’m tied in the State and Southern Con ference. The Wildcats will play host tt the Tar Heels in their Homecoming day battle Saturday on Richardson Field. “The Wildcats didn’t play their usual game against the SO0th Carolina Baptists and that ID largely the reason they were beaten” said Coach Walter Skid more, who secuted the game which Furman won, 14–13. “Of course, they wanted to win, but it was clearly evident that they were saving their big ammuniton for the Tar Heels. Even at that, you can see In the statistics that Davidson out classed Furman in running and passing, gaining 100 and l67 yards in these two departments against IS and 20, respectively, for the winners. Davidson had three punts blocked, one Of which was converted immediately into . touchdown, and five passes intercepted. That’s enough to demOralize any club” Coach SkidmOre added. 1.-THE running and pUnting Of Ed Armfield, quarter, and the passing of Teeney Lafferty, half back, were outstanding for the Wildcats on OffenSe. The play of Bailey Williams, end, and Captain Dick johnson, guard, was spectacular. The team Is fast and powerful. “Of course, Furman should be given just credit for winning. Their boys played heads-up ball. took advantage of the breaks, and capitalized on them. But Carolina is going to find a diff ferent Davidson next Saturday and the game will be close” the Tar Heel mentor concluded.
