NEW YORK, Oct. 15.-Out at Iowa University, which is where all good Iowans go before they 60 to heaven via Los Angeles, there is a colored halfback on the football team by the name of Ozzie Simmons. Simmons is so good observers are already coupling his name with that of Fritz Pollard, Browns unforgetable Brown Bear, and Paul Robson, Rutgers All-American before he became one of the outstanding artists of IT, cse times. When Simmons came to Iowa his name was plain o. Sim mons, and it is too bad he changed it, since if he is as good as they say he is, he must be the original wizard of OF. The Iowa coach’s name, how ever, is Ozzie Solem, and out OF respect for his football teacher, OF oecame Ozzie. So the long records of the gridiron sport will find him listed as Ozzie. Ozzie brought his brother, Don, with him to Iowa. and Don is a football player, too. I’m fortunately, Don’s chief claim to fame is that he is the only man who can consistently stop Ozzie in an open field. Since they both are members Of the same squad that accomplish ment is of no great value to Mr.. Solem, who doesn’t want his namesake stopped by any body. Deans of Big Ten But the Simmons brothers are, withal, the Deans of big ten football this year and the stories they tell on and OF them soon will be gridiron legend. For example, a sports writer is said to have asked Don how he explained Ozzie’s remarkable elusiveneSS. “Why, he just runs where them white boys amt” replied the brother. Asked the same question on another occasion, he had diff ferent answer. MAN, he don’t rum” he said, che vaniSheS.” But on Saturday, at Lincoln, Nebr., a prairie city that year in and year out boasts one of the games great teams NE braska), the wizard Ozzie did not vanish quite completely enough. Those rangy cornhusker Sophomores finally shucked him and his fierce hawkeye mates by the margin of one stroke, or 14–13. Since prior to Saturday the dopesters had it that it would eventually come down to a dog fight between Minnesota and Iowa for the mythical title of best team in the country, some may regard the outcome as an upset. But it was no upset. It never was an upset when Nebraska beat any mans team,
