Wolverines Fight Oft Second Halt Attack to Remain At Head Of Parade Ann Arbor. Mich, Nov. 13.-(R)- Herman Everhardus, the flying Dutchman from Kalamazoo, unleash ed . toe Is true as navy siege gun and Bill Renner displayed uncanny passing aim Saturday as Michigan’s powerful football team, playing in snow and ice, swept toward q fourth consecutive Big Ten championship With . hard-earned 10–6 victory over Iowa. The fighting team from the tail corn state harvested . well-deserved touchdown early in the third period on = pass from George Teyro, sub Iowa back, that Bernard Page, shifty end. took on Michigan’s 13-yard line. Captain Fay Of Michigan tackled Page as the pass dropped in his arms, but the elusive Hawkeye slipped from Fay’s grasp and raced across the goal lire. Petoskey smashed through to block Fishers try for the extra point. Michigan had scored its 10 points when the Hawkeye counter came. The first score came at the end Of the IAAAVs0A pCllOOs W1lC1l GtC1A1dIuuO uIdOC good his second try for field goal. He kicked from the 24-yard line, and the ball sailed true. Previously each side had failed In attempts to place. kick. Everhardus trying from the 30 yard line and Fisher Of Iowa from the 26. The Michigan touchdown came early In the second period, after Rem ner entered the game. Everhardus wormed his way through desperate Iowa tacklers for q 47-yard run, from Iowa’s 81 to the 16-yard line, where Fisher downed him. Three plays lat er Renner found a receiver in Cap tain Fay, uncovered in the end zone. He hurled the ball to Fay, who went over the goal line untouched. Ever hardus’ placement was good. From then on the embattled Hawk eyes tried desperately to score, but were unable to gain consistently eth er through the line or around the ends. So vicious was the Wolverine defense Of its slender lead that Iowa actually had net loss Of one yard from scrimnlage, gaining – and los ing 50 yards. It was = double loss for Iowa, for Dick Crayne, hard-charging fullback, suffered 4 possible leg fracture in the second period when he charged into the Michigan line with the ball. Michigan Is Pass Leary Minnesota May Take to Air Against Big Ten Leaders. CHICAGO, Nov. 14.-Four teams have failed in their efforts to halt Michigan’s advance to the Big Ten football championship, but the last two opponents have uncovered the Wolverines weakness-it is pass de- Tense. Illinois passed Michigan dizzy completing seven out of thirteen passes, and losing by a bare point, 7 to 6. Iowa completed five out of sixteen passes, and lost 10 to 6. GOpheerS Have Chance Thus Minnesota, team which has completed twenty-three out of it’s f1fty-f1ve LasSes attempted in six games, must be accorded a chance to upset Michigan in the Big Tens most important game, at Ann Arbor Saturday. Bernie Bierman, Minnesota coach, regards Michigan as superior team to Minnesota, but Bierman’s state ment may be slightly discounted because of the fact that he remembers that too many Minnesota teams have come down to the Michigan game expecting victory and come off the field beaten. Michigan has had three touch downs scored on it this season. Michigan State scored the first on a pass good for thirty-f1ve yards. Illinois scored the second after passes had placed the ball in Scoring position. Iowa scored the third last week on passes. Line Defense Good In Michigan’s four Conference games the Wolverines have had seventeen out of forty-seven at tempted passes completed on them for a total of 268 yards. Just how staunch the Michigan defense is may be cleaned from the Iowa Michigan game. The HawkeyeS, with a strong running attack, owed net loss of one yard on running plays against Michigan, gaining f1fty-nine yards and losing sixty The Hawkeyes connected with five passes for gains totaling 11G yards, and were decidedly in the ball game, with a chance to win until the last whistle. The pass statistics of all Michigan’s opponents follow:
