PURDUE IS SAVED BY ITS RESERVES Second.String Backs Gain Tie With Gophers-Michi- gan “Has Everything” Head Foot Ball Coach. University of Wis consin. n 4 ADISON, Wis, October 16.- M The Minnesota Purdue l Y i game at Minneapolis, which resulted in a tie game, developed into a great battle. We were inclined to think Minnesota would win, but the Purdue second string backfield turned on enough steam to gain a draw. The game was decided, as a great many major games in the conference are, on the strength Of the reserves. This, in Minnesota’s case, was rather surprising, as all advance reports have had the Gophers well fortified in reserves at every position. Minnesota both outgamed and outpassed Purdue until the fourth quarter. when an in tercepted pass gave Purdue its opportunity, which was promptly seized.
