Beachams general all-round play and running with the ball was as fine an exhibition of half back work as has been seen here this year. and to his great playing Is mostly due the credit of Cornelrs scoring. While Cor nell played fast and pluckily, they were out-matched, over-weighted by their heavier and stronger adversaries, and could offer only a stubborn but unavailing resistance to Pennsylvania 8 advance. Cap tain Wharton, for the first time in his life, did the kicking at full back for Pennsylvania. and so: his kicks off quickly and without having one blocked throughout the afternoon. He also rather outpunted Ritchie, a few yards on each kick. The Cornell man did very pretty work In catching punts and got his kicks off cleanly and quickly from close up behind the line. Penn sylvania gradually worked the ball up to Cornell’s 5-yard line, where Uffenheimer broke through and blocked a kick of Ritchie’s. Ritchie fell upon the ball behind his goal line for safe ty touchdown. Pennsylvania got the ball on the kick off and bucked Cor nelps line for forty-five yards to the lO-yard line. A couple of plunges into the line followed and then Beacham went around the left end and avoiding the Pennsylvania tacklers, scored n touchdown after a 20-yard run. The ball was directly in front of the goal posts, but Richie failed for the try at goal, the ball striking the cross bar and bounding back. Pennsylvania woke uo after this, and, gaining possession Of the ball shortly after the kick off. rushed it from the center of the field by hard line buck ing to Cornell’s 20-yard line Minds then went through the center for a touchdown and Woodruff kicked the goal. After the kick off Pennsylvania without losing the ball smashed through the center for another touch down, Woodruff again kicking the goal. Morice could make no gain and on the second down the ball was passed to him again. Morice made gorgeous tumble and Beacham snatched up the ball and rushed to Pennsylvania goal with a clear field Beacham had covered twenty yards with Minds close at his heels before the Quaker full back caught him and threw him viciOusly on Penna’s thirty yard line. Cornell could not advance and Ritchie punted to Minds on Penna’s one-yard line. Taussig was on TOP of Minds almost as soon as he caught the ball and hurled him across the goa line. The Quaker full back. however before falling had called down” and SO saved safety. PENNSYLVANIA took the ball and bucked through Cornell’s line for thirty wards from their own 1-yard line.
