CHICAGO, Nov. 10.-A few opinions, observations and notes on the football season: Notre Dame is not so wrought up over that loss to Pitt as some would like to make it appear. . The games the Irish really want to win are with Northwestern, Army and Southern California. And if they have to lose one of those three they had rather it would be against Army. But there are a lot of football men who think the Pitt defeat shook the conceit out of the Notre Dame team and that it won’t loose another game. Ohio States record isn’t much to brag about but the team that smashed Northwestern, 20–6 last week would give any eleven in the land a run for its money. Sid Gilman, Buckeyes right end. is one of the best all-round wing men in the west. He was good enough for the all-Big Ten team against Northwestern but they say his game against Wisconsin was the greatest ever played by an end in Ohio’s big horseshoe stadium. And they say that includes any thing Yves Fesler, 1890 all-American, ever turned in. Lew Hinchman, Ohio State cap tain, is one of the Big Tens class lest backs off his Northwestern game. He’s the son OF the old time Pittsburgh ball player. i.
