Firpo Phipps completed two forward passes. one to Talley to earn a first down and few minutes later he was successful in passing to Grant for IS yards. This made 1t easy for Phipps to plunge over the goal line. Playing in a steady dcWnpour OF ram. both teams depended chiefly on an aerial offenSe. The first half was a battle OF puntss between Capt. Jimmy Hitchcock OF Auburn and Quarterback Macarthur OF Tech. During the last half. and par ticu.arly the last quarter, Auburn launched a passing attack, completing three of nine while Tech was success full in completing two of seven. Tech gained but 73 yards from scrlmmage. while the Plainsmen were able to gain but 129 yards. Tech earned one first down and Auburn four.
