Georgia’s march toward national gridiron honors was blocked here today by . courageous Florida eleven, which presented a steel-plated defense to halt every Georgia thrust and hold the mighty Bulldogs, conquerors Of Yale, to q scoreleSs tie. Twice Georgia pounded at Florida’s goal, but the slashing drives Of Roberts, Chandler and DowneS, the aces OF the Bulldog attack, could do little more than knock on small chips from the concrete Florida forward wall. History repeated itself today, for two years ago on the same green-turfed gridiron O determined band OF Florida SophomoreS upset heralded Georgia team, 1856. Georgia’s powerful backfield quartet ripped off long gains in midheld-and Jack Roberts. the fullback, slashed through for AZ yards on one play-but whenever the Florida goal was near the Bulldogs lacked the touchdown punch. The Alligators, beaten by a Scant point last week by Furman, threatened twice.
