SCORES INDICATE TROJANS WEAKER Cards Ran Up Larger Total on Oregon State, Though Shy Four Regulars. Foot Ball Coach. University OF Southern California. ~ TANFORD’S decisive victory over Oregon State last week, used as a basis for comparison with South ~ ern California, should result In the Cardinals being considered a favorite tomorrow. Southern California defeated Oregon State 21–7, while Stanford’s win was 40–7. But the scores are not used as sole basis for favoring Stanford. Anyone who saw the Stanford-Oregon State game would come to only one conclusion-if Stanford had left its first team in the second half its score might just as we’ll have been 60 or 10. Warner Thought Satisfied. Those who recall Oregon States feat in defeating New York University last year must appreciate the strength of the Stanford team in running up such a score as 1t did last Saturday. Rumors have been afioat that Coach Warner is pretty well satisfied with his team, and that the loss of Post Robssky, Sellman, Hoffman and Wilton has not greatly weakened the eleven. 1t should also be remembered that in the Oregon State game Stanford played without five good men, four of whom are regulars-Rothert, halfback: Sim kins, fullback; Heiser, guard; Preston, end, and Hillman, fullback. These are all undoubtedly ready for the Southern California. Breather for California. Southern California, in her showing thus far this season, has perhaps stood out little more prominently than last year. The team at times has shown strength in the execution of offensive plays. The Olympic Club game will give Coach Price of California an opportunity to use his reserves, as he probably does not intend to take chance with his regulars after hard game with Pennsylvania and just before the contest with Southern California. If Price does not use his regulars 1t Is likely that the Olympic Club will come out on top, for this team presents line up Of seasoned players.
