  EORDHAM USING SLIPPERY JACKETS Mystery Of Old Time Garb Is Explained by Coach CaVanaugh New York, Oct. IT lP-Clothes may not make the man but they make the Fordham university foot ball team perhaps the slipperiest to he found anywhere. Many Of the 6O,O0O persons who watched Fordham upset New York University, 26 to 0. at the Polo Grounds Saturday, wondered at the ancient aspect of the Fordham in canvas jackets that were worn away back in the stone age of the game. The mystery was ended today by Major Frank Cavanaugh himself. The picturesque head coach of the Fordham team explained that not esthetic but purely utilitarian mo- tives led to the resurrection of the old fashioned garb that other col leges threw on the scrap heap years .agO. “rhe other kind is prettier,” ob- served the major, but that’s all.
