SOUTHERN AND BIG TEN CLUBS MIX IN MELEES Michigan, Though Defeated Three Times, Plans to De. feat Illini TIC Frs PLAY OHIO Iowa. VictOrs Over Huge Min. nesOta Eleven, Rests This Weekend Chicago, Oct. 29.-(P)--An intersectional atmosphere will pervade the Big Ten Saturday when the untimed Princeton Tiger invades Ohio State, Alabama’s Crimson tide at ticks Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania tackles Chicago. All the conference championship tinge Of the day will center at Ann .Arbor, where Michigan will fight to halt the champion ship tread Of Bob Zupke’s 1llini. Although out OF championship running with three straight confer ercc defeats, Michigan’s gridiron machine showed such impressive power in holding Wisconsin to Z to 0 victory Saturday that it ap. pears as q real menace to Illinois. The Illini were so unimprcssive in their s to o victory over Northwest ern that Coach Tad Wieman and Wolverines believe they have great chance to provide footballs biggest upset Of the year. From q national championship viewpoint, however, the Princeton Ohio State battle attracts the great est attention. Neither has been defeated this season. and more than 10000 are expected to watch the duel at Columbus. Ohio State whipped Indiana 13 to 0 Saturday, displaying the hest-balanced Buckeye attack in three years. The victory carried Ohio to the top of the Big Ten stand irgs. as it is the only team to play and win three conference games, al though Iowa and Illinois have a perfeet percentage with two triumphs apiece. Coach Burt Ingwersen’s ponderous Iowa Hawkeyes, who subdued Min mes ota’s Bonccrushers Z to s in q thriller Saturday at Iowa City, will rest up. with probably the reserves tackling South Dakota. Minnesota will invade Northwest ern. The Gophers are out Of the championship running, but threaten to avenge themselves on their future opponents. Purdue, which lambasted Chicago 40 to @ Saturday, the worst licking Coach Stages men have received in more than q decade, will meet an other nonconference team, Case, at Lafayette. Indiana will have day off. Alabama has lost one game this season, but is ranking team Of the Dixie terrain and promises to. give Coach Glen Thistlethwaite’ Badgers plenty Of fight. The Badgers chief fault seems to be a disorganized Of fensive when they get within their opponents 10-yard line. Nothing but another defeat seems in prospect for Chicago when it tangles with Pennsylvania. Penn was defeated by the Navy 6 to o Sat urday in q stdnning upset, and is in vindictive mood. It appears as # Stagg and his men will suffer for it.
