INDIANA LOOMING IN BIC TEN RACE Conqueror of Michigan Has Illinois Worried Over Game Saturday. CHICAGO, October 15.-Pat Page and his giant Indiana eleven have cast menacing shadow across the Big Ten foot ball championship horizon of L. linois. Triumphant over Michigan after % years, the Hoosiers will invade the H. lini stronghold Saturday for what prom iSes to be the outstanding Big Ten game of the day, confident and deter mined to kick the engine out of the machine which Coach Robert zuppke has assembled to defend the title won in 1927. All season Zuppke has been worrying about the Indiana invasion, and the report of his scout brought back from the Michigan Indiana game at Ann Arbor merely confirmed his fears While Indiana won by only 6 to 0. the scout reported the Hoosiers gained 308 yards by rushing as against GA by Michigan, and should have won by 20 points or more. Furthermore, the Hoosiers came out of the fray virtually unbruised and with probably more experience than Illinois gained in its two easy non-conference victories over Bradley Tech and Coe College of Iowa. Seventy thousand spectators are expected to jam Illinois Memorial Stadium for the game. Other Conference Games. Three other conference skirmishes are on Saturdays program, wisconsin opening up its Big Ten season against Purdue at Lafayette, Chicago invading Minnesota and Michigan claShing with Ohio State before what promises to be a record crowd in Big Ten history. Exhibiting its usual bruising attack, but with trifle more speed Minnesota Steamrolled Purdue to 15-to-O defeat Saturday, and Is expected to have an easy time with Chicago, which bowed to Iowa, 13 to O. Wisconsin showed scoring punch in trouncing Cornell College Of Iowa, Saturday 40 to 0, but whether 1t can gain against heavier Purdue forward wall remains to be seen. 1t will be home coming at Purdue. Ohio State, which almost put North western out of the championship pic ture by a 10-to-0 triumph Saturday. isn’t expected to have much d1fhculty with Michigan. The wolverines were weak in the line against Indiana. Iowa and its star Indian fullback, Chief Mayes McLain, will meet Ripon College in a non-conference game Saturday, while Northwestern Will meet Kentucky at Evanston. Although defeated by the Buckeyes, the Purple showed more power than many anticipated, and except for bad fumbles played their opponents even.
