STANFORD BEATS WASHINGTON i. BY % TO 2 SCORE STANFORD, Nov. 13 LP)-A coast conference Championship loomed far Stanford today as the big Cardinal eleven hurdIa:l what was considered it’s last barrier, and sent Washington tumbling into the depths OF defeat under a crushing 29-to-10 score The flashing Red team which early in tile season Coach (“Pop’O Werner publicly announced as his worst” eleven in IS years, rose to superb heights today to oVerwhelm the pow erful squad from the north. and the brilliant victory brought joy to the heart of the veteran coach as it ,w7ped out the sting of a 13-to-0 defeate INFLICTED by the Washington team last ycar--the first and only conference loss by a Werner coached team on the western seaboard. Some $4,000 persons poured into the huge bowl to see probably the most important contest of the season. A victory for Washington would have tangled the conference battle with five elevens, each numbering one defeat, but the result today eliminate d the Huskies as contenders, with two losses chalked against them from the season play. The Cardinals broke through for a touchdown 10 minutes after the opening kick off. Little Mike Muir ply, relegated to the sidelines for most of the season, weaved 27 yards down the field to cross the goal line.
