At present the one non-Big Ten outstanding aggregation ia this sec ton is Notre Dame, and 1t may become the ranking team OF the Middle West. And If the team should go through the year undefeated, Rockne will have a good claim on national honors, in view of the stiff schedule he has mapped out. More Hard n. ID. Games The Fighting Irish” are yet to meet Georgia Tech. Indiana, Army. Drake. Southern California and Carnegie Tech. The team already holds wins over Beloit, Minnesota, Penn State and Northwestern. Vic tories over one southern, one south western and three western confer ence, one far-western and three eastern teams, would put Notre Dame in good national champion ship light and these victories are looked for. Other middle western favorites, Michigan, Northwestern and Ohio State are still unscathed. The Wolverines have two confer ence victories, having added one Saturday, when they beat Illinois. 10 to 0. Northwestern looms as a real Con ference championship possibility. The real strength OF the team was exhibited Saturday when the power full Roclne outfit was able to score but one touchdown for a 60 win. Inasmuch as Northwestern is facing recognized weak teams in it’s renaming Conference games, the Purpie probably will be indicated in the Conference, at the close of the season. Michigan, with victories over Minnesota and Illinois, still has a hard row to hoe. The team has to meet Minnesota once more. Wiscon. sin, and Ohio State. Minnesota is hard to beat. and Ohio State has shown enough power in it’s early games to cause considerable dark horse talk. -.- Doc Wilce gives evidence Of having developed real team at Colum. bus. He had little trouble winning from Columbia. and in Ohio’s first Conference game. the team won last Saturday from Iowa, 23–6. Wilce has a real passing offensive that is dangerous and he has that added requisite, the ambition of all coaches. a line that will hold while the offense gets under way. Michi gan may run up against a real snae in it’s Conference championship hopes when it meets Ohio State. Purdue Does Well The other conference games Saturday resulted about as expected. Purdue beat Chicago, Go, for it’s first conference win from the Maroons in thirty-two years. Wisconsin, al ready held to a scoreless tie BY Purdue. won cut over Indiana, 27–2. Minnesota ran rough shod over Wa bash, 67.7, in non-conference game. Saturdays games saw a change in leadership among the leading conference scorers. Capt. Marty Karow of Ohio State, by scoring two touch downs. for a years total of eight, went into the lead over 30 Molenda, Michigan, who was able to garner only one. Karow has As points to Molenda’ S A, the latter having scored two points after touchdowns, in addition to his seven markers.
